The most important physical aspect of our body-it looks back at you looking dry, or oily or listless or the way you make it i.e.: glowing and radiant.
Start by giving yourself 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at bedtime.
•Take a thick slice of cucumber. Don't peel the slice, rub in a circular motion all over the face and neck areas. Wash after 15 minutes.
•Halve a tomato, gently rub over face and neck and wash after 15 minutes.
•Rub the face well with an ice cube.
•Slice an Apple into thin slices. Place these on the face and leave for 15 minutes. These soak up the extra oil and helps to close pores.
•Diluted buttermilk dabbed on the face and left for 15 minutes, gently wipe with moist cotton wool before applying make-up.
HAIR DANDRUFF
•Keep the scalp clean. Oil hair on alternate days and shampoo.
•Mix 2 tspns of Brandy in 1 cup of water. Apply with the fingertips to the roots of hair. Wash after ½ hour with shampoo.
•Mix 1 egg with 1 cup of yogurt and apply on the scalp. Leave for ½ an hour and wash.
•Mix 1 tblspn of Olive oil with 1 tspn of limejuice. Apply well on the scalp and cover the head by tying an old scarf. Keep it on overnight and shampoo the next morning.
HAIR SPLIT ENDS
•Trim the ends regularly.
•Try not to use hair dryers and hot rollers very often.
•Take 1 tblspn of Almond oil with 1 egg yolk and1 tspn of Honey. Apply well on scalp and hair. Wash after ½ an hour.
•Take 1tspn of Castor oil, 1 tspn of Mustard oil, and 1 tspn of Olive oil. Mix well and apply on full length of hair, while massaging the scalp also. Cover the head with a hot towel.
LOSS OF HAIR
•Wash the hair with Tender Coconut water every other day for weeks.
•Add the paste of fresh Curry leaves to Shikakai powder and wash hair with this on a regular basis.
•Wash hair with coconut milk.
•Drink Lots of Water .
BODY LOTIONS
•In Winter, right after a bath while the skin is still moist, rub some Baby oil into the skin.
•Make a paste with 2 tblspns Oats and 1 tspn limejuice and some milk. Apply on the body before a bath. Wash after 5 minutes.
•Fresh Rose petals 1 cup with ½ a cup of milk. Add 1 tspn gram flour and some Rose water. Make a paste and apply on arms and legs. Wash after 10 minutes.
•Mix 1 tspn Vaseline with 1 tspn Glycerin and leave overnight.This is good for dry skin.
•Mix 1 tspn of Vitamin E oil with 1 tspn of Vaseline and 1 tspn of Glycerin and apply over the entire body. Have a bath after an hour.
•Mix 1 tblspn of limejuice with 1 tblspn of Glycerin and 1 tblspn of rose water. Mix well and store in a glass bottle. Apply daily ½ an hour before a bath or apply at bedtime and wash in the morning.
DARK ELBOW AND KNEES
•Mix 1 tspn coconut oil with ½ a tspn of limejuice. Apply and wash in the same way with a hot towel.
•Soak hands and feet in water to which corn flour has been added. Soak for 5-10 minutes. •Roast an onion, mash and make a paste. Apply on cracked heels. Wash after 20 minutes.Continue for a month till the cracks heal.
•After a bath massage Mustard oil well into hands and feet. Wash with water and pat with a towel to dry.
•Add ½ tspn Vinegar to ½ a cup of curds. Massage feet and ankles well with this Wash after 5 minutes.
•For cracks in heels, mix Candle wax with Mustard oil. Heat and apply. Wear socks and leave overnight.
Calluses :
•Crush 6 Aspirin tablets in 1cup of water with 1 tspn limejuice. Coat the calluses with this. Cover with a warm towel. After 10 minutes scrub with a pumice stone and wash.
Weekly :
•Once a week in ½ a bucket of water add 2 tblspns of Vinegar and 1 tspn of limejuice. Add a gentle shampoo and soak ands and feet for 10-15 minutes. Rub with a pumice stone and then have a bath.
DARK UNDERARMS
•Apply a paste of 1 tspn of Gram flour, a pinch of Turmeric powder and 1 tspn of Sandalwood powder, some limejuice and milk. Wash after 20 minutes.
•Take 1 tspn of Cucumber juice, 1 tspn of Limejuice and a pinch of Turmeric powder. Apply and leave for 20 minutes before washing.
ROUGH PALMS
•Take 1 tspn sugar and 1 tspn oil. Rub like a massage between both palms.
•Take 1 tspn sugar along with 1 tspn of limejuice and rub between palms.
NAILS
•Slice a raw Potato, circle the closed eyes gently with these halves. Or else grate a raw Potato and place on Muslin cloth squares. Place these on the eyes and relax for 15-20 minutes.
WARTS
•Cut a Garlic pod at the end and rub regularly on the wart. Apply the juice of a raw potato.
SPARKLING EYES
Eat enough of Vitamin A and C. Take special care in the choice of eye make-up. Don't use make-up that can irritate and harm the eyes. Avoid spending too much time in smoky rooms and don't neglect a check-up on a regular basis.
•Dip a pad of cotton wool in some Rose water to which 2-3 drops of Castor oil is added. Place these soaked pads on the eyelids and relax for 15-20 minutes.
•Splash the eyes with a weak tea solution, thoroughly strained and cooled.
•Cotton pads dipped in a cold tea solution and placed on the eyelids whilst relaxing.
DARK CIRCLES
•Soak 2 Almonds overnight. Peel and grind to a smooth paste. Add a few drops of limejuice to this Apply for 20-25 minutes. This should be followed daily and gradually after 2 weeks, every 3rd day and finally when the difference is visible, to once aeek. A paste of Almonds can be stored in a clean bottle in the 'fridge.
•Grate 2' piece of cucumber. Squeeze through a muslin cloth and extract the juice. Dip cotton pads in this and place on eyelids. Relax for 15 minutes.
DEEP SUNKEN EYES
•Apply 1 tspn of Honey with ½ tspn of Almond oil. Apply at bedtime.
•Soak 5 Almonds overnight. Peel them, eat them by chewing well followed by a glass of milk. Done first thing in the morning for 21 days should definitely help.
EYE PUFFINESS
•Dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on eyelids while relaxing.
•In a bowl of chilled water add a few drops of Vitamin E oil.Dip cotton pads in this and place on the eyes while relaxing for 20 minutes.
The skin gets a tan due to long periods of exposure to sunlight especially in Winter when the sun's rays are more direct. Any of the treatments given below should be done regularly for a week at least.
•Wash the face and arms well. Mash some ripe strawberries and apply as a paste. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
•Honey 1 tsp with a few drops of vinegar applied for ½ an hour.
•Soya beans flour 1 tbsp with 1 tbsp of milk applied for ½ an hour.
•Apply grated tomato pulp mixed with cucumber juice. 1 tbsp each. Wash after 20 minutes.
•Apply a mixture of 1 tsp warm Olive oil with a few drops of glycerin and 2-3 drops of lime juice
•1 tsp of milk cream with2-3 drops of lime juice mixed well. This should be applied 10 minutes before a bath. It reduces the dryness and also is good when applied in Winter.
•Plain, whole milk, applied and left on for 10 minutes and washed with cold water helps.
This should be done twice a day.
•Take 1 tsp of fresh coriander leaf juice with ½ tsp of turmeric powder. Apply this at bed time and wash in the morning. Repeat for a week.
•Take 1 tsp lime juice mixed with 1 tsp of finely powdered cinnamon. Apply at bed time and wash in the morning.
•Rub a pinch of table salt mixed with a pinch of the soft soggy portion of a glycerin soap. (Pears) Rub well into the blackheads. Repeat for a week.
•Toothpaste (not gel) can be used to treat blackheads. Apply toothpaste on blackheads before going to bed. This will not only remove blackheads from your skin but also reduces the swelling of blackheads.
•Fenugreek (methi) leaves serve as a good home remedy to remove blackheads. Apply the paste of these leaves on affected area and wash it with lukewarm water after 15 minutes. This remedy not only helps in preventing blackheads but also avoids wrinkles.
•Take onelemon and extract juice from it and mix it well with equal amount of rosewater and then apply it on the affected area. Keep it for half an hour and then rinse it with fresh water. Repeating this process for 15 days not only removes blackheads, but also helps in healing scars and scratches.
•Ground radish seeds paste also helps to remove blackheads.
•Cut open a vitamin -E capsule, add ½ tsp of glycerin and apply. Wash after 15- 20 minutes.
•Rub almond oil on the wrinkles in upward strokes. Leave overnight and wash with warm water next morning.
•Rub the pulp of a ripe Papaya on the face and leave for ½ an hour before washing.This is a very good toner also.
•Take 1 tbsp of cold milk and add 3-4 drops of lime juice. Rub this paste well into the wrinkles before going to sleep. The next morning wash with warm water and dry with a rough towel firmly. Once again rub in the cream - in the direction opposite to the wrinkles. Wait for ½ an hour and wash, avoid using soap.
•Add a spoonful of honey to your hot drink, which you take in the morning.
•Make fruit as a part of your dinner meal. Try to eat fresh or frozen apricots and peaches after dinner.
•Take more carrots, as they increase the carotene level in your body and helps in wrinkle free skin care.
•Prefer juices which are made from fruits and are also rich in carotene.
•Drink Lots of Water
•Quit Smoking and Drinking
•Try to prefer green salads which can give more nutrients to your skin. You can also include fresh spinach leaves and broccoli florets to your green salad.
•Don’t press or pinch pimples.
•The fastest way to get rid of acne is to detoxify your body. This can be done by drinking at least 6-10 glasses of water daily. Exercise moderately and eat a lot of fibrous food. Fruits and vegetables are considered to have a lot of fiber.
•Keep you hands off of your face.
This is extremely important. Unless your hands have just been washed do not touch your face with them. All day, your hands come in contact with bacteria and oils that can and will spread your acne and make it worse. Don't sit there feeling them and popping them all day long.
•Wash your face gently with Warm water and a soft wash cloth 2-3 times a day.
•Do not use a tough wash cloth. Once this is done you can then apply your exfoliant, which works well in the fight against acne.
•Make sure that you change your pillow cover everyday. With sweat and perspiration your pillow cover would have the bacteria that cause pimples, acne and blemishes.
•Baby Powder can work well in drying out your pimples and getting rid of them.
Remember to wash your face first though.
•Use everyday different towels and clean the complexion from perspiration.
•Wash your hair at least twice / week using special oily hair shampoo.
•Groundnut oil mixed with an equal amount of lime juice if applied on the affected part of the face prevents the formation of pimples. Again, glycerin mixed with borax powder, water and camphor lotion also makes an effective acne controller.
•use a gentle shower gel or a special soap created for acne problems.
•Prepare a mixture of milk powder, honey and lemon juice.
•Rub skin well with raw potato.Mix oatmeal, curd and tomato juice. Apply the mixture on dark skin. This will help to reduce blemish.
•Soak 4 almonds overnight. Make a very fine paste with them, using milk to grind them
Apply this paste on the neck and face before going to bed. Wash with cold water in the morning. Repeat daily for 15 days, followed by twice a week.
•Turmeric powder is also a good cure for dark skin.
•You can even mix turmeric powder with lemon juice to treat dark skin of your baby.
•A mixture of dried orange peel with curd is also useful for treating dark skin.
•Mix gram flour with cow's milk and apply on the face of your baby.
•Grind mint leaves and apply on the face.
•Grated tomato is another beneficial cure for dark skin.
•Make her drink lots of water so that her body is hydrated and all the toxins are flushed out form the body.
•Add more of cereals and fruits to her diet. You can feed your child fruits in any form, raw or juice.
•A mixture of beet root juice and turmeric powder is also useful for darker skin.
•You can even use aloe vera pulp on your baby's skin. This is a wonderful treatment for dark skin. Aloe vera is a itchy pulp so ensure that your baby does not feel irritated with the pulp.
•Apply yogurt to the face.
•Apply grated white radish or its juice for fairer complexion.
•For Babies: Massage the body with almond oil or any other oil once a week. Give baby a bath after 15 minutes.
•Make a paste of honey, milk, yogurt, and ground sesame seeds in equal proportions and apply on face and whole body.
•Mix honey with equal amount of almond oil. Apply on the face every night.
•Mix oatmeal with yogurt and tomato juice and apply on the face. Wash it with cold water after 15 minutes.
•Apply a mixture of 3-4 drops of lime juice and a grated tomato on face and neck for 15 minutes for 15 days. Wash with cold water.
•Make a paste of turmeric (haldi) powder with fresh lime juice and apply.
